Guide To Avoid Scammers!

This is a guide that will help you avoid being scammed and losing your items and/or YOUR ACCOUNT!
Number 1 rule, do not tell anyone your password, this is the safest thing to do.
Set recovery questions to get your account back in case it gets hacked.
Change your password often, don't give out hints as to what it is.
Never enter your password anywhere but the Jagex-made official runescape website. Any other site is most likely a scam or something against the runescape rules.
Make it something hard to guess, definitely not your name.

Never lend anyone something without them giving you something of equal or greater value to hold on to for the time being.

Make sure you always know what you are buying from someone and how much it is really worth.

Common scams:

1. Free armour trimming- no one anywhere can trim armor, trimmed armor comes from members treasure trails only.
2. Some people may try to sell you something for cheap to make you really want to buy it. Make sure they do not switch it right before you accept. Example: Someone puts up a rune 2 handed sword. You put up 25k, and right as you're about to click accpet he switches it to an iron 2hander without you noticing, he takes the money, and runs off.
3. Account selling/trading- this is against the rs rules. Anyone caught trading/buyign/selling accounts will be banned. It's usually a scam, so don't even think about it!
4. Duplicating- no one can duplicate. Some people may tell you to drop your stuff on the ground then press alt+F4 or CTRL+W and the items on the ground will be in two times the amount that they originally were. It doesn't work. Those buttons close out the window, by the time you load runescape, the scammer will have already picked up the items and ran away.
5. free gem cutting- most of the time this is not a scam. But just to be sure, trade uncut gems for cut gems.
6. Trust tests to get in a clan- some people will say you can be in my clan if you pass the trust test. They will say you give me your best item then they will give it back. They will not give it back. Yet again, another scam.
